"God is the ground of all being." When Paul Tillich made this observation he was pointing out that all of life is an expression of God's selfless love. We are all here because moment by moment God has been giving himself away to every created thing. What's more God's creative love has not only made us who we are but is making us into the people we were always meant to be.
If this description of how everything is rooted in God is hard to get your head around, it's probably a sign that you are absolutely normal. God's loving presence exists on such an enormous scale that it is often hard to take it all in. For this reason our church family has devoted half its time to activities that, as they put life into a God-sized perspective, help keep us rooted in God's presence.
Worship is often associated with songs, sacraments, and special seasons. But beneath all the ritual is the same practical wisdom that we apply when we take pains to go to a good ball game rather than watching it on T.V., or attend a concert, rather than listening to it on iTunes. When we gather with others and mingle our passion with theirs, everyone's experience is amplified. That is what worship does. Worship helps us better discern the loving presence of God in which we are all grounded.
It is our prayer that you join us at First Christian Church and add your experiences to our greater life in the Lord. There is a space that only you can fill and there are people that need you to fill it.
